The Sitellite CMS is certainly integral to TiVo's internal operations.  Every organization in our company depends on it. Our implementation of Sitellite -- known affectionately as "the Big Book of TiVo" -- contains the sum of our knowledge of how things get done at TiVo.

We originally rolled out the Sitellite CMS as an Engineering-only knowledge base, but other internal organizations quickly realized the advantages of storing and updating their how-things-get-done content in a version-controlled, browser-agnostic CMS that is ridiculously easy to update.

The side benefit of Sitellite has been the company's acceptance of the notion of content ownership. Sitellite requires that people be accountable for the content they submit, review, and approve, and this has really improved the quality, comprehensiveness, and timeliness of our knowledge base content. Because of Sitellite, "owning your content" has become part of TiVo's internal work ethic.

We've added some unique-to-TiVo customizations, including the ability to add non-HTML pages, which we eventually hope can be rolled into the base product. We're excited about upgrading to Sitellite 4.2, which will allow groups within the company to develop page templates that best suit their needs.
